307 Events, formerly Sweet Themes, offers a wide variety of rental items as well as complete event design services. 307 Events operates out of the beautiful Traverse City,  MI, but we provide services to other areas of the state including Grand Rapids, Detroit and Lansing.

Whether you are planning your perfect dream wedding or designing a large corporate event, 307 Events is available to create the perfect look, feel and style of your event. Our design process is pretty straightforward:


1. We schedule a consultation, which allows us to get to know you and immerse ourselves in your event brand and style.

2. We provide you with visual examples of how we’ll make your event vision come to life.

3. Once we’ve finalized specifics, we provide you with an itemized, custom quote.

4. You sign off and secure your event date.

5. Our team sets-up, you enjoy your event to the fullest, and then we tear down afterwards.

I love events because each one is unique and different. I love transforming a room and creating a new experience for guests. I love doing themed events but I also love working with brides to create beautiful spaces. I highly value education and I have attended several international conferences with some of the best industry leaders from around the world. I am continually trying to find new and better products and stay on top of the trends.

While we are known for being an event rental company, we really love any opportunity to do full event design for our clients. I enjoy all aspects of my job and that offering a full service event design house gives me the chance to do so many different things. Flowers, Balloons, woodworking, building, creating and buying new inventory. I also love event day and setting up and tearing down.

She knew she wanted to go into wedding and event planning after working at the Park Place Hotel in Catering and Banquets while attending Alma College, where she majored in Business Administration and Marketing with specialized classes in Event Management.  While at Alma, she became involved with ILEA (then ISES), taking her interest in events to the next level. After graduation, she started working at MPE Event Productions (Now Top That! Event) doing sales and event coordination.

Next, Kate worked at The Henry Ford Museum in Greenfield Village managing promotional and member events. It was then that she co-founded the Metro Detroit Chapter of ILEA. After she left The Henry Ford, Kate worked at Ernst & Young in Troy on their Entrepreneur of the Year program while simultaneously working at a bridal shop in West Bloomfield.

Kate then went on to work at Blumz…by JR Designs in Ferndale and Detroit as their marketing and sales coordinator, where she had the opportunity to become well-versed in floral design while working with brides to plan their wedding flowers and event décor.

Shortly after Kate gave birth to her first child, she and her husband Chris moved back to Traverse City to raise their family. Over the next six years, Kate stayed at home with her children while doing freelance event coordination and making cakes for small events.

During those six years, Kate started to realize her true calling when she saw how Pinterest was inspiring people to DIY their way through rustic décor. So, Kate decided to start renting out those items, which was a hit. She originally planned to offer event packages for baby/bridal showers and small parties, which is why she originally chose the name “Sweet Themes”.

The first year, Kate provided décor and event design for a lot of the smaller events that she originally intended. As her inventory quickly grew, so did her event size… by August of 2014, Kate was managing event design for events with over 800 guests and moved into the event studio, which accommodated all of her rental items. The second year that 307 Events (then Sweet Themes) was open, they provided décor for over 100 events… and business has continued to grow ever since.

Kate has an amazing, supportive husband, Chris, and 3 girls-Anna, 9, Liddie, 7, Hallie 5 and then a dog, Emma. She is in love with where she lives and feels so fortunate to be able to raise a family here. However, Kate also really enjoy traveling, for work and for pleasure. Her family has the goal of seeing all 50 states before the girls go to college.
